We love hummus, in fact, we're big fans of the humble chickpea overall. It's a power packet; high in fiber, healthy fats, low GI & plant based protein. Don't even get us started on aquafaba!
You know what else we love - homemade hummus! Not that store bought, housed in plastic kind, not 100% sure what those "ingredients" are kinda Hummus. With this recipe, you'll be whipping up homemade hummus in no time. No nasty preservatives & it'll cost you less too! Enjoy!
Products featured in this recipe (new editions!);
- NEW Glass Dip Bowls in Praline (to keep your dip airtight & fresh!),
- NEW Round Eco Stow in Praline (for reserve dip) we used the smallest (472ml capacity).
- Measuring Cup Set of 4 (1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/4 cup)
- Silicone Angled Spatula
Ingredients
For the Hummus
400 grams of soaked chickpeas (tinned works too)
1/2 lemon
1/2 cup Tahini
3/4 cup of olive oil
Raw garlic (1-3 cloves depending on your love of garlic!)
1/2 tablespoon smoked Paprika
1/2 tablespoon of ground Coriander (or Cumin)
Salt & Pepper
Water (adjust based on your preferred consistency)
For the Flatbreads
2 cups Flour
1/2 cup Yoghurt*
*Substitute for non diary yoghurt alternatives. Add 4 spices to reduce sweetness (if required)
Method
1. Place all your ingredients out on the bench alongside your containers. We used the Glass Dip Bowl Set & Round Eco Stow in Praline.
2. To make the Hummus; place all Hummus ingredients into a blender and blitz until you have the consistency you wish. Tip: add less water to begin with and adjust as you go.
3. Pour into your Glass Dip Bowl & Eco Stow - seal to keep it fresh.
4. Prepare the flatbreads; combine the flour and yoghurt into a bowl & combine with a spoon or spatula (we used our Silicone Angled Spatula). Be careful not to over work.
5. Turn the mixture out & knead roughly, adding flour as needed to prevent sticking.
6. Heat a pan with some olive oil and cook on each side until browned.
7. Enjoy!!!
