Recycling and Our Approach to Product Development

This National Recycling Week, I wanted to share a little insight into what drives us at Seed & Sprout. Each product we create goes through a journey, one where we carefully consider every detail—from its design and materials to its packaging and even how it arrives at your door. Our mission is simple but powerful: to make eco-friendly choices easier, more accessible, and truly sustainable.

From the very beginning, we think through the entire life cycle of each product, asking ourselves, "How will this be used? And what happens at the end of its life?" We’re not just creating products; we’re crafting solutions that last a lifetime. Our aim? Buy once, buy well.

Let’s take a closer look at some examples in our Lunchware range, like our beloved CrunchBox and CrunchCase.

CrunchBox

The CrunchBox™ is made with FDA & LFGB-grade stainless steel and silicone (when pots are added), both of which can be recycled when the time finally comes. We design our products to be as durable as possible, so they’re not just for you—they’re for your kids and even grandkids.

CrunchCase

The CrunchCase™ takes things even further. Crafted with organic cotton and lined with recyclable LFGB, PEVA, it's a product designed with the planet in mind. Even the zippers are 85% post-consumer recycled plastic, and they’re recyclable again—imagine the journey they’ve been on! And if it reaches the end of its life with you, it can be upcycled with Upparel.

Silicone Take Back Program

Our commitment doesn’t stop at what you see.  Silicone products across our range—both FDA and LFGB certified—can be recycled through our Silicone Take Back Program with TerraCycle. It’s our way of ensuring these materials don’t end up in landfill.

Packaging & Dispatch: Minimal Impact, Maximum Care

When it comes to packaging, we’ve pledged to use the least amount of waste possible. No plastic.  Minimal packaging and recyclable or compostable where ever possible. Every product presentation box, every postage carton, is designed to be recycled or composted. Even our shipping labels are compostable!  We’re also proud signatories of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), which holds us accountable for using sustainable packaging at every level.  We're constantly searching for better ways to pack and dispatch our products with our customers and the planet in mind.

At Seed & Sprout, we’re dedicated to walking the talk. Our promise to you is that we’ll keep pushing for new, better ways to reduce waste, increase durability, and, above all, honour our planet in everything we do.

Let’s Rethink How We Shop This National Recycling Week

As we reflect on the importance of recycling, let’s also take a moment to rethink how we shop. Every choice you make—from choosing products with sustainable materials to those designed to last—is a step toward a more eco-conscious future. At Seed & Sprout, our products are designed to be part of the solution, giving you the tools to live more sustainably without compromising on quality.

Take a look through our range and see how small shifts in the way you shop can have a big impact on our planet.  Let’s keep making a difference together.

Love,
